In 1899 at the Art & Crafts exhibition in London Mackintosh showed an armchair with laquered panel. This armchair has instead of the cut-out motif in the oval backrail, a circular plaque, executed by Margaret Mackintosh, inserted.

Another vision of this chair is at the Glasgow School of Art
but has no plaque. These chairs were probably made
as a pair for use in Mackintosh's Glasgow flat.
